While in hospital at Karmanos Cancer Hospital I was seen by Dr. Afonso for an unrelated issue. He helped find a serious issue with my pericardial sac that another cardiologist down played. He took time to verify and consult with other specialist to devise a treatment plan allowing for surgery only as last resort. As with any new course of medications there comes side effects. He provided his personal cell number to text with problems; evenings and weekends. His response was less than a 1/2 hr. I have not reached the end of my treatment, but as for now I could not be happier with the care I am receiving.
