Patient Reviews

I am 64 years old and have had heart arrhythmias for 20 years and four ablations at Cleveland Clinic (top rated heart clinic in the country). I spoke with 9 different doctors about this surgery including Cleveland Clinic, Cedars Sinai & UT Southwestern. I chose Dr. Harrington at Baylor Heart in Plano, TX because of the risks of the surgery, including Mitral Annular Calcification. I had my aortic & mitral valves replaced with tissue valves (cow & pig). My hypertrophic heart was trimmed because of its thickness-myectomy. The maze (freezing & burning on outside of heart) was performed to help eliminate the heart arrhythmias. The surgery was very complex and risky...one doctor at Cedars Sinai gave me a 10% chance of not making it out of the OR. I also had a pacemaker installed 10 days after the surgery because of serious heart arrhythmias. Six months later I am totally fine, working out, golf & wake surfing!!! Dr. Harrington is great at handling a very complex & risky surgery!!!
