Dr. Schein, a centenarian plus, is long retired from active practice but it is impossible to speak highly enough off his compassion and skills as a psychiatrist and physician certified in pathology and internal medicine, as well as as a psychoanalyst. He donated one day/week at Mt Sinai to care of the indigent and his intensive care of patients in private practice (my family among his lucky patients) was unparalleled. It is a delight to have remained in touch with him as friends in his latter years, and I am stunned to learn he still sees a few devoted patients even now at his very advanced age.
