I dealt with an 'issue with the tissue' aka hemorrhoids for 15 years. Two bandings, a third that failed. Two embolizations... Stay. Away. I finally decided to see a colorectal surgeon, and I am so glad I saw Dr. Colvin. He explained exactly what had been going on all these years and assured me I would feel better if I had surgery. 'You won't like me for a couple weeks, but then we'll be friends again.' He was right. I feel a thousand times better after one awful month, and I have no regrets except wishing I had encountered Dr. Colvin sooner. We had engaging conversations about what we each chose to do for work; I'm a musician, and he was genuinely interested. He gave me quite the scoop on the intersection of complexity science and AI solving the insanely overly complex thing that is the medical system in the US. If you are looking for a surgeon to give you solid medical advice about that pain in your rear, see Dr. Colvin. He's a great doctor, and he literally changed my life.
