Living with chronic pain can feel like an oxymoron. It is a very humbling, lonely place that occupies your body as well as your mind. It distresses people to hear about it, so you try your level best to hide it, smile and be pleasant. You try to overcome and “think positive” but what’s going on inside is simply incongruent. You can’t think it away, just learn to cope. My body had become bound up as a result of mind-bending chronic pain, fibromyalgia and other health issues. I could barely raise my hands over my head or hold my back and head up properly. It was as though I had wilted and become stuck.
