I started seeing Dr. Anwar in 2003. I recall back then that my wait time in his waiting room was always 10-15 minutes & every blue moon, much longer. When I finally met him, I understood the reason for his delay. Dr. Anwar never made me feel rushed. He did a thorough biopsychosocial on me & took his time to get to know me. I saw him monthly for at least 5 years, all while I also saw a counselor for CBT therapy 1-2 times per week. I recall him trying several different mood stabilizers & antidepressants on me for the first 2 years. He titrated me up & also off of each medication in an ethical, time-appropriate manner to document my side effects & other reactions to my emotional health as he was tweaking my medication regimen.Over time, it became obvious that my depression was treatment-resistant. Dr Anwar suggested ECT (cautiously) in 2008 after I lost my father. The procedure Saved My Life. Since then, I've gone for 2 rounds of ECT follow-up; in 2015 & 2019. I trust no one else!!
