I had Microvascular decompression surgery in 2019 in which special cement was used to close the opening that was made, unfortunately the cement got infected with a staph infection. Dr Schmalz is so knowledgeable and really cares about his patients, prior to surgery he explains what he thinks should be done in a clear manner that I could understand. After surgery he made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. He came to visit every day to check the wound and see if i needed his help in any way. He suggested other alternatives to surgery that have evolved since my previous surgery which I'm willing to try. I would have every confidence in him if I needed to have a further surgery. An extremely intelligent and caring doctor I would recommend him to anyone.
