My wife is a recent recipient of a single lung transplant at Brigham and Woman's. Several years ago, she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Our first evaluation at Brigham's for lung transplantation was not very encouraging and we left feeling like we wouldn't pursue it. As the disease progressed, we asked for a second evaluation and it was then that we met Dr. Nirmal Sharma. He gave us hope and was very positive in his belief that my wife could benefit from lung transplantation. I thank God every day that Dr. Sharma entered our lives. He has a positive attitude that makes you feel confident that IPF doesn't have to be a death sentence. Post transplant, he continues to oversee Sue's healing and he has been an amazing advocate for her regaining her strength.
