Patient Reviews

I recently had surgery at Univ of Chicago w/ Dr Hyman on "Friday the 13th." Dr Hyman was attending surgeon and Dr Wu was resident surgeon. Despite the notorious date, I had an amazing experience. First, let me say I hope you never need resection surgery. I avoided it for at least 20 years. I've been a nervous wreck about this for years and years. Dr. Hyman disarmed my anxiety with each visit. He made me courageous to proceed. Dr. Hyman was extremely accommodating to my needs: ie shifted to a bikini cut for me- which is healed nicely after a couple weeks and is not visible. I have some other incisions- kind of like a smiley face since I did get a laparoscopic sub-total colectomy. The nose incision was my belly button, and the eyes were two very small incisions a little higher up. Again, the larger cut, where half of my diseased colon was removed, is hidden below my belly at the waist line. Dr H visited me daily in the Hosp. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable. I recommend
