When my previous doctor retired, she recommended Dr. Backens. I had never even heard of him, but I am so glad she referred me. I'm very discriminating and careful about the doctors I pick; and honestly, there's nothing that I don't like about Dr. Backens or his genuinely caring, cheerful, accommodating staff. He is gracious, very knowledgeable, friendly, and humble. He has a gentle bedside manner and really listens to you with no 'airs'. He acts on your suggestions and is very thorough in making sure everything is done that you talked about during the appointment. I've never felt rushed, and I typically have lots of questions. As much as I absolutely loved my previous, and now retired primary care doctor, I have never been to a doctor that I felt as thoroughly looked after and cared for. His office is a far trip from my house but, honestly, I'm just not interested in looking for a closer primary care doctor. For me, Dr. Backens is very much worth the trip and the tolls.
