Patient Reviews
Apr 13, 2024
Dr. Luis Savastano, “SAVED MY LIFE”! He accepted me as a patient and conducted a 12 hour open brain surgery to harvest and bypass two blood vessels into my brain and clipped a large aneurysm. The aneurysm was on the artery which controls my language. My surgery was on March 12, 2024 and I came out of surgery, 100% healthy. His skill and commitment made the difference! My speech is perfect and I am extremely heathy today, 30 days after my surgery. My aneurysm was accidentally found in Portland, Oregon. I spent 48 hours in an ICU, and they wouldn’t give a clear explanation of how they were going to fix it. After a week we reached out to UCSF for a second opinion. My video call with Dr. Savastano provided immediate comfort on a plan and the decision to travel to UCSF for brain surgery was absolutely the right choice ! If you or a loved one is diagnosed with a life threatening aneurysm, reach out to Dr. Savastano and the UCSF team for a second option. Huge THANK YOU to Dr. Savastano, UCSF and my entire surgical team!!! Jim L

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams.
