Dr. Sweeney is intelligent, compassionate and gives hope to those who need it most. He helped my daughter when others said nothing could be done. He treats his patients with respect and his surgical skills are as good as his bedside manner. We cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Sweeney and his staff. We are forever grateful.

About Me

Care Philosophy
  • My professional mission is to provide education, treatment, and support to patients and families, empowering them to take control of their medical care.

The patient who finds his or her way into my office has been unexpectedly thrust down an unfamiliar road. Where two weeks prior they were walking the dog, engaged at work, or planning the next family vacation, today they find themselves bouncing between doctor visits, MRIs, and blood draws. In these difficult circumstances, how do people regain a sense of control?  They do so through understanding their diagnosis, preparing for and overcoming inevitable challenges, and having an actionable plan moving forward.  Although I take a leading role, this process it is not performed in a vacuum.  Close coordination with medical oncologists, radiologist, pathologists, and radiation oncologists ensures access to as many experts and treatment avenues as are available.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
