I was in UHS ER for severe shortness of breath after being hospitalized for two weeks at a different hospital, for pneumonia. While not admitted, I was there for approximately 9 hours. Dr. Penfield was the ER doctor assigned to me. He listened carefully to the previous month’s history. Based on that and the symptoms I was presenting in ER, he ordered blood work and diagnostic imaging, as appropriate. The cat scan showed blood clots in my lungs. Pretty serious and pretty scary. Dr. Penfield ordered oral meds that would help these clots to dissolve. While I will be on these meds for many months, he felt I would begin to show improvement in 5 to 7 days. He was spot on!! I have gone from very labored breathing and excessive weakness to feeling 80% better in one week. I have no complaints about Dr. Penfield and the level of care he provided.
