I had Dr. Cottingham for several years as my pcp. I can assure you, he is what you'd want in a pcp. He is knowledgeable, friendly, actually cares about you and will take time to hear your concerns. He was the one doctor that thought outside the box and educated me on how best to eat with type 2 diabetes. He also is constantly checking his peers as to new trends in dieting and the ways to eat for true health. An ex: I lost nearly 52lbs eating things like bacon, butter, meats, etc.-all the things you're supposed to avoid due to 'high cholesterol' concerns and guess what, NO ill effects and bloodwork and I felt GREAT! I am also now PRE-diabetic from my labs! The ONLY reason I can no longer use him is his practice went to a concierge type service where you still use your normal insurance to pay for visits, labs, etc., but also pay up to 425.00 per quarter out of pocket. I wanted to continue but my wife shut that down due to budget. I wished I could still see him but I can't afford it :(.
