Dr. Pennington cares. Despite what some may say is a lack of expertise, I found that the problem lies with the specialist that I was referred to and not Dr. Pennington. It seems there is a loyalty code within a hospital system. A primary care physician can refer care, but if they refer to a specialist in the hospital system they belong to, they can be reluctant to challenge a specialist’s opinion because they are categorized as “specialist”. Just because a doctor is deemed a specialist does not mean they are the best in their field or that they care. Dr. Pennington’s hands are somewhat tied by that, I feel. She is caring and kind. I trust her. She is knowledgeable and knows when a situation warrants further attention from a specialist. She takes things seriously and moves swiftly to resolve them. I am glad she is my PCP. I have moved quite a bit and have had several and she is one the best ones I’ve had.
