  • Grant Nelson, D.O., is a member of the team at Internal Medicine Associates, P.C. and serves as a hospitalist at EAMC. Dr. Nelson received his master of public health from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and his doctor of osteopathic medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.During his residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Nelson published more than 30 scholarly articles and received multiple awards, including the Edward Jelks Outstanding Resident Clinician Award, the Outstanding Internal Medicine Senior Resident Award and the University of Florida Society of Teaching Scholars Resident Teacher of the Year Award.During his time at Auburn University, where he received his undergraduate degree, Dr. Nelson often volunteered at EAMC and was inspired by the group of physicians he worked with, which ultimately led to his return. Dr. Nelson is married to Dr. Heidi VanderVelde, who is a pediatrician with Pediatric Associates of Auburn, and they have two dogs.
