I am doctor in my early 30's who went for a routine visit to the dentist and found that I had a large asymptomatic abscess in my front upper tooth requiring me to get a root canal. I had a cavity filled years ago that apparently caused the nerve to die causing my abscess. My dentist wanted to charge me over $3,500 for doing the root canal and also told me I would need a crown which will ruin my smile (given its location). Thankfully I did some research and found Dr. Jeffery Chen from Mid county endodontic group. Dr.Chen specializes in microscopic surgery with outstanding credentials which you can find on the mid county endodontic website. After my evaluation with Dr. Chen, he stated he could do the root canal microscopically through the back of the tooth thus not requiring a crown or changing my smile.
