Patient perspective: 71 years old, male, Viet-Nam combat veteran, seven heart attacks, 20 angioplasties, triple bypass, ablation, disabling PTSD, trust doesn't come easily, abnormal genes cause hazardous metabolization of most drugs, believe tact is an excuse for dishonesty, don't automatically respect anyone in authority (not easily impressed, unrealistic standards for civilian life), believe too many doctors are undeservedly arrogant and closed minded, met more doctors than desired—in other words: I could be called a "difficult patient."I Regarding Dr. Jacqueline N. Poston: Natural (unaffected) kindness, intense listening skills, careful curiosity, patience with a patient's impatience, astounding academic acuity without any pomposity, seeking and valuing a patient's input, and an "action-oriented" mindset are not a combination of traits I've often experienced in medical doctors..
