I'm 52 yrs old & have never been to a pain mgmnt doctor. I have no history of back issues. With a recent onset of excruciating mid (thoracic) back pain, I ran to the ER (2x), then to PCP, chiropractor, & an ortho. All with minimal assistance and various hypotheticals. After x-rays, CT Scans & finally an MRI, I was referred to Dr. Nickerson on Venice Island. He was one of the most caring & engaging medical professionals I've ever had the privilege of receiving treatment from. He would NOT prescribe anything until he had the results of MRI in hand. As disappointing as that was, It is certainly a testament to his due diligence & medical ethics! He immediately referred me to physical therapy, gave me a ton of info on things I needed to do to improve. Once the results were in he gave me all the options slowly as if I was the only patient he had, yet the waiting room was packed! I left with optimistic & realistic view of my healing journey that lies ahead. I am so glad I was referred to him!
