I was a post-operative patient in UMPC East. At 4:45 AM, A large group of medical personnel burst into my room, and I was whisked to the ICU. Dr. Onyemekwu who I had never met had been called in from his home. A large blood clot had been discovered in my left lung. Dr. O sat beside me focused on some medical equipment. He treated me with such tenderness, gentleness, and respect. Above all, he had such a look of determination on his face, it comforted me. Later, a cardiologist told me, I would be OK because large clots like that are usually 'immediately catastrophic.' I never saw Dr. O again, but I love him for what he did for me and how well he treated me.
