Was not happy with previous physician and made appt. with Dr. Miles. Had “Welcome to practice” appt. Shortly after he came down with bronchitis. Saw doctor, had chest x-ray. Doctor ordered a lower abdominal ultrasound. It was fine but in process found 3 growths on kidneys. 2 on left looked suspicious. Referred to Urologist. Once we got to appt. intake nurse took vitals and foumg his HR to be 160. Sent us immediately to ER.. LONG story short at ER found he was in AFib. Admitted him and during another scan found his ascending aorta grossly enlarged. Normal is 3cm his was 6.3. After a couple days transferred him to Greenville hospital. Obviously heart surgery trumped the cancer on the kidney surgery. Cardio thoracic surgeon, Dr. Davis performed a CABG. After 6hrs. replaced aorta and aortic valve. When surgeon came out said, it was a miracle he was alive. Aorta was so thin he had been able to see thru it. Dr. Miles saved his life for catching the cancer that lead to all this.
