Dr. Oikeh is a hospitalist at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and cared for my husband for 4 days+ in April 2023. He studied the chart, asked good questions, understood what was going on and was able to calmly explain why tests were ordered, what was being checked and why and was a reassuring presence throughout the experience. In a traumatic event, the patient's care is primary. Dr. Oikeh did a great job. But, it's also important to explain to the family what's going on. That aspect of caring for patients is often overlooked. Dr. Oikeh's presence, knowledge, ability, patience, empathy and understanding made a frightening experience tolerable. Very happy with Memorial Hospital of Carbondale IL's emergency department and the care received after in the ICU.
