While visiting from Ohio, I developed an "internal" hernia necessitating emergency surgery, but was advised that ONLY a bariatric surgeon could, or would, perform such surgery. (I'd had RNY surgery years earlier.) Unfortunately, no such surgeons could be located that would accept my case unless THEY had performed the original surgery. (Probably for reasons of liability, since they would not be sure what they were facing until I was opened up.) At this point, Dr Modasi was consulted and he readily agreed to operate. Although he was not actively performing bariatric surgeries in his practice, he had completed a bariatric fellowship and felt confident that he could handle the corrective procedure. (Frankly, I believe that finding Dr. Modasi was a Godsend.) The minimally-invasive surgery was performed post-haste, and my outcome could not have been better. His bedside manner throughout was exactly what a patient would want, and his followup exemplary. I recommend Dr Modasi highly!
