Referred by my rheumatologist after abnormal brain MRI. No openings for 6 mo but referral was marked urgent. His assistant called back the same day, with an appointment for the following day. I have medical PTSD after years of being dismissed and humiliated by physicians who believed my issues were psychological, not psychological, even when referred by my rheumatologist. The majority were hurried, dismissive and condescending, sending me home humiliated, with no dx or follow up. I wrongly assumed Dr Neekhra would be the same and I’d leave humiliated, with no dx, or POC to determine a dx. Instead, he patiently asked me to start at the beginning and tell him A to Z. I literally started reciting the alphabet because other than my rheumatologist, no specialist has ever listened or shown concern for my subjective symptoms. He listened, asked and answered questions. Dr Neekrah’s genuine concern, knowledge, and patience, provided an exceptional quality of care. I am beyond grateful.
