Diagnosed with a potentially cancerous polyp in my right colon, I went to a surgeon w/ significantly more experience, who recommended a minimal procedure to slice off the polyp as an outpatient. I next saw Dr. Tammany for a second opinion, and she recommended removing the entire right colon to ensure cancer would not spread, despite having to spend several days in hospital. My PCP recommended going with the "wiser" surgeon (Tammany) who focused on ensuring cancer would not spread over a quicker recovery. Why risk a future second surgery? The robotic, laparoscopic surgery lasted longer than expected due to unforeseen complications inside me. Dr. Tammany considered opening me up, but remained persistent until my right colon was successfully removed. l recovered very quickly - only 1 night in hospital and released after 38 hours. 12 days later, I'm 90% recovered. Dr. Alison Tammany is a brilliant, wise, talented, caring, and respectful surgeon. A true Rock Star!
