I am always concerned with a 'Technical' field of medical care, as many scientists are very left brain and technically rigorous but formal. But Dr. Broaden had great 'bedside manner.' She sort of 'lowered the force field' before and during the appointment. For we veterans with PTSD we can get a little jittery at times, but it was the polar opposite for Dr. Broaden. I know all professionals have career aspirations. But I hope Dr. Broaden is never far from the patients. Expertise is nice, expertise and technical mastery are necessary, but it is compassion and empathy that are in short supply. Dr. Broaden delivered both.
