I initially worked with Audrey to address abuse in my childhood through EMDR. This later turned into her supporting me in changing ideas I had about myself, the world, and how I related to it through retelling what happened. She also has taught me distress tolerance skills when I've been in crisis. I've had other excellent therapists, too, and I've had other therapists whose responses to my experiences felt invalidating, or like they might not be able to "handle it." Audrey has not made me feel either of those things. She has developed a really strong capacity to hold the person she's working with in a way that feels caring and safe, but also makes you feel like you have the capacity to do those things for yourself. Working with Audrey as my therapist has made me feel like, "Alright, maybe I want to be close to people again."
