My mom, who is 97 and had been living totally on her own, suffered a stroke in January 2019. She failed her swallow test and I had to make a decision whether or not to have a stomach tube inserted, which meant she couldn't eat, and all she asked for every day was "one of their good onlettes here". I was devastated, and Dr Lamere was amazing in the time he took to show me the swallow test fail, explain what was going to happen and to advocate for her to be given acute therapy at Marionjoy when they came in at around 9pm to test her and she was too tired to show what she was able to do. I cannot say enough about Dr Lamere's knowledge, patience and advocacy for his patients. I wanted to tell the hospital and anyone who he retorted to, because he is a truly gifted and caring person who is absolutely who you want if you are looking for a specialist in this area. Thank you so much, Dr Lamere! She finally passed her swallow test, had the tube removed in May and is at Sunrise doing great!
