On the first day we met I was eyeballing the food cart rather than listening to him. I said, “I don’t want to miss the coffee.” He quipped immediately, “You know that’s just river water. It’s decaff coffee.” We had an inside joke about the Rio Grand River water after that. Thank you Dr Roche for making me feel like a human and taking my feedback into account. I felt validated and that you were actually hearing me.
