Patient Reviews
Nov 30, 2019
When your life depends on undergoing a Whipple procedure in short order for a suspected non-typical form of pancreatic cancer and a well known surgeon big in local and state medicine tells you there's only 3 surgeons in all of New York State that he'd allow to perform the procedure and Dr. Doerr is one of them you listen. When other Doctors tell you that's who they recommend you listen. Typical Whipple about 4 hrs. on the table. Dr. Doerr a little over 6 hrs. Typical hospital stay usually 5-7 days. Dr. Doerr 12 days with near constant monitoring by top surgical residents. Normal time off for recovery from any strenuous profession ranging from 4-6 months minimum. With Dr. Doerr I returned in 2 months. I can't say he saved my life but I can say he saved my compromised quality of life especially after speaking with a number of Whipple patients who underwent the procedure elsewhere.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
