I saw Dr. Rein over ten years ago, initially for weekly appointments, and every other week later on. I was forced to go see her by my husband at the time. He was determined to prove to the world that I was mentally ill and needed to be hospitalized and medicated. While I don't believe Dr. Rein ever used the word "abusive" in our sessions, she did help me realize that my husband was, in fact, abusing me. She recommended a book to me: The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists by Eleanor Payson, LMSW. I read the book, but reported back to her that I didn't think my husband was a narcissist. It took a few more years for me to see it (I didn't want to see it), but Dr. Rein was exactly right. I did leave him and have been happily married to my second husband for several years now. Time has really made things crystal clear. I just really appreciate the seeds of information Dr. Rein planted in my brain all those years ago, and I hope to someday thank her in person!
