I had outpatient surgery yesterday at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and had Dr. Branche assigned to my case. I had several concerns and he listened carefully. My biggest fear was that I have been diagnosed with severe GERD and was very concerned about lying flat during the operation and waking up with severe chest pain from the acid. He immediately gave me an injection to help with this and it sure worked. He even was able to have my head raised so that I wasn’t completely flat. I woke up in recovery to excruciating surgical pain in my foot from having hardware removal from my ankle. Several injections of Dilaudid did nothing for me. Dr. Branche then gave me a popliteal nerve block which was wonderful. He told me it would last for 24 hours but it is now wearing off at hour 30. I am SO grateful to him for this because I had no pain whatsoever during this time and could have a good night’s sleep. Dr. Branche is wonderful and I can’t thank him enough!
