Had a rare acute inflammatory reaction to an immunotherapy drug used to treat tripple negative breast cancer. This only happens to a very small percentage of patients. My vision loss came on suddenly & progressed quickly. I initially thought I touched something and then maybe touched my eye and that possibly irritated it. Problems started in the left eye and progressed to the right. Within a week I lost practically 98% of my vision. I could only see dark gray shadows. I litterally needed a guide. I saw two ophthalmologists prior to Dr Patel. First doc said he thought he knew what I had, ERM, but wasn't sure. He referred me to Dr Patel. The other ophthalmologist told me that I had an ERM, probably had it all of my life. Even though I told him I'd never had eye issues. He told me it was not related to immunotherapy and there was nothing I could do, get the next infusion, see him back in 04/24. Dr. Patel was knowledge about immunotherapy & eye issues. He saved my eyesight. Grateful!
