Dr. Fitzpatrick was one of the kindest physicians I’ve met in a while. I had to take a parent for an EMG/NCS nerve study, and he asked many clarifying questions at first, then carefully explained the equipment, the process, and what to expect. The test can take a while and cause some discomfort so he made some smalltalk while conducting the procedure, a very welcome addition to a bit of a stressful process. He was genuinely interested in what my parent did for a living, about his background, family, interests, and living situation. In an era where doctor visits are often rushed, we felt very much at ease to explain all the visits we had over the prior month. Dr. Fitzpatrick was thorough; comprehensive. At the end of the visit, he also offered some opinions that could take the care plan in a different direction. I hope that more providers could devote more time to actually communicating with patients—those few extra moments really matter for patients.
