Deepa is very knowledgeable about plant-based diets. I have had 5-6 tele-visits with her. I was already following a modified Ornish diet, but my doctor recommended Deepa to help make sure I was getting enough protein. Deepa educated me about the best vegetable protein sources and that has helped, and I have also continued to learn about the benefits of eating whole, natural foods. My prostate had been inflamed and growing (BPH) and I had some concern about it becoming cancerous, but in the last year it has become stable, even reducing in size a bit according to the latest MRI. I also have become more conscious of the added sugars in my diet and have been eliminating them and substituting them with whole fruits. My A1C was not so bad at 5.8 a year ago, but my recent test showed it was down to 5.4. An added benefit that I didn't expect was my total cholesterol going down from around 180 (which wasn't so bad) to around 130 after six months on the plant-based diet (much better!).
