Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis, and it's a systematic autoimmune disease, what that means is, that the normal immune response against an invader like pneumonia, what happens is that it starts attacking you. Now it primarily attacks the joints, that's why I call it rheumatoid arthritis, but because it's a systemic inflammatory disease, it can actually affect all parts of your body, it can affect your blood vessels and your skin and your organs actually.
