New Workout Routine? Keep It Simple

Read Transcript

The best way to start a workout routine? Remember these three words, keep it simple. Hi, I'm Dr. Vonda Wright. When you start exercising you don't have to make and elaborate plan with multi-level goals, instead go for a walk, run, swim or row anything that's logistically practical for you. Remember that just making the desicion to exercise doesn't erase years of being a couch potato, so don't try to make up for lost time all at once.

Many people start with walking first. It's simple. You just open the front door and start, and let's face it, there's no new skill to learn and there's no monthly fee. Even if you keep it simple, it helps to write down a workout schedule. That keeps you accountable. Make a plan for each day of the week, even if the plan for Sunday says rest and restore all day.

It's a great way to get started and stay motivated. For more easy ways to shape up, watch all our smart tips.
