Can Deep Breathing Reduce Stress?

So there are a lot of different ways to reduce stress and anxiety, deep breathing is usually one of the first things I try to teach my patient, because it's the way to quickly get control of those obsessive thoughts or those racing thoughts that are sometimes the block for somebody who is very anxious. We talk a lot about the 1 4 7 breath.

Very similar to yoga breathing, or diaphragmatic breathing, but basically you are inhaling, you're counting to four and then you're exhaling and counting to seven, so trying to teach yourself to regulate your breathe and slow it down a bit.
