Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may be used to treat depression when treatments like antidepressants and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) have failed, says Tarique Perera, MD, a psychiatrist with Contemporary Care of Connecticut.
[MUSIC] So if you failed in medications and all of the different types of medication, it may be or may not be any of the different types of Tricyclics. In my perhaps some adverse approach, if you failed TMS, that I would try [UNKNOWN] and then you go ECT. [MUSIC].
