How Does Diet Affect Heart Disease?

Read Transcript

80-90% of the time heart disease is preventable. How is that? One of them clearly is through what we eat and our diets. Diet is such an important part of taking care of our hearts, and we know that a diet that's rich in fruit and vegetables, nuts and legumes and multi-grains and fish, omega-3 fatty acids, that is the healthiest diet that we can eat.

Paying attention to exactly what you put in your mouth and what foods you ingest makes a difference. Foods that are processed and high in salt and have tons of ingredients that you can't even read or understand, put them down, it's not good for your heart.
