How Do I Know If I Have Adrenal Fatigue?

Read Transcript

The most common symptoms of adrenal fatigue are exhaustion, and inflammation in the body. When your cortisol levels, which is the adrenal hormone are very low which is what happens during adrenal fatigue, your body starts developing inflammation all over. So you might notice that you have joint pain, you have muscle pain, and this is because I call it, the fire hose is gone, you have nothing to put out the fire, the adrenal glands naturally do that.

So people that have poor adrenals will tell me that they need a nap every day at four o'clock, even after good night sleep they're still exhausted, and they need a nap in the afternoon, and sometimes get a second wind at night, that's the typical pattern for people with adrenal fatigue.

And so I think that that's the most common thing that people will come in with. In addition, women going through menopause will notice worsened menopause symptoms, the adrenal hormones are part of your hormone orchestra, so that hormone cortisol interferes and interacts with your thyroid gland, with your sex hormones, estrogen and testosterone, and progesterone, and so all those hormones can get really knocked out of balance, and you might notice that you have more PMS, you have more hot flashes or going through difficult menopause.

And in fact when I have women going through menopause I always check their adrenal glands to make sure that they are healthy because I'm looking to bounce the whole endocrine orchestra in order to help any hormone related symptoms.
