What is Depression?

Depression, it's a medical illness, it's psychiatrist illness that has emotional, mental and physical consequences. So you see that a person has a depressed mood, a quality of mood that's different than just having a bad day. In that, the severity, the intensity and the duration are distinct. You have at least two weeks of symptoms where a person says that I don't feel like getting out of bed, I don't have a lot of energy, my concentration is affected, I don't get pleasure out of the things that I used to, and what we see is that chronic depression is not only an illness, but it's a chronic illness.

So left untreated you can have sometimes severe symptoms or poisonous thoughts of suicide, or not wanting to live.
