Keep your heart strong by adding a swirl of cinnamon to your next cup of coffee. Cinnamon may be especially helpful for people who are overweight. In this video, Robin Miller, MD, explains how this spice fights inflammation and heart disease.
Hi, I'm Dr. Miller, and here's a smart tip that you can enjoy with your next cup of coffee. Keep your heart strong and blast fat by adding a swirl of cinnamon. This spice maybe especially helpful for people who are overweight. People who are obese typically experience more inflammation and oxidative stress, two factors that set the stage for heart disease and other health problems.
In one study, obese people with pre-diabetes took a cinnamon extract called cinnulin twice a day. After 12 weeks they experienced less stress and inflammation, and they even gained a bit of lean muscle. Researchers think cinnulin may help cells take in sugar and use insulin better. So enjoy a shot of cinnamon in your coffee or tea to help you stay healthy and slim.
