Common stresses that are caused by diabetes directly could be related to the condition itself, or could be related to coping with diabetes. For example low blood sugars, can cause stress in the body. Neuropathy, which is complication of diabetes causing nerve damage, can cause pain, and therefore stress in the body.

Sleep disorder is often associated with obesity and diabetes can cause stress in the body. However in addition to these physiological causes of stress, psychological stresses related to diabetes such as checking finger sticks, driving on a highway not knowing what your blood sugar is or simply getting tired of diabetes monitoring is often a source of stress for people with diabetes.
