If you were a dye-hard before you got pregnant, you may wonder if it's okay to continue to color. Find out what nurse midwife Paula Greer has to say about dyeing your hair when you're expecting by watching this video.
This is a common question that I get from a lot of my patients. Most of them have already been dying their hair and they're worried about the root job because if I tell you not to dye your hair, eventually during these long nine months, you're going to have some serious roots showing.
Dye is a chemical, dye is absorbed through the scalp. Dye is not healthy for you and your baby. Some people will use a natural vegetable rinse to try and help minimize the coloration problems. This is something you can discuss with your OB provider, midwife, doctor, whoever you see and your hairdresser, but really enjoy your pregnancy.
Worry about a healthy mum, and a healthy baby and don't worry about your roots. Have a great pregnancy.
Paula Greer is a graduate of the nurse midwifery program at Georgetown University and currently working for Baltimore Washington Medical Center in a faculty practice.
