How Can Sleep Deprivation Affect My Weight?

When you do not sleep well it sends your hormones in a spiral. We have a hunger hormone called ghrelin, and a fullness hormone called leptin. What happens is if you do not sleep well, ghrelin increases and leptin decreases. It takes a lot more food, the fatty foods, the high-calorie foods, the dense foods, those comfort foods like French fries, in order to decrease the ghrelin and allow leptin to come up and that's one of the big problems, so you have cravings that are sky rocketing and it can cause you to eat more food than you normally would, so even if you are a conscientious dieter you take good care of you, these thing just call your name when that ghrelin is elevated.
