What Causes Alzheimer's Disease?

Read Transcript

Alzheimer's Disease is something that I want everybody to be concerned about because it hits nearly half of people by age 85, the cause of it is not old age, the cause of it appears to be the build up of what I call Amyloid plaque in the brain. These are microscopic little protein collections that also have traces of metal in them, there is another structure called tangles, the doctors call them neuro fibrolary tangles, this will not be on a test but they are inside the brain cells and those two together, the plaques and the tangles, destroy the brain cells, so that your memories are [xx] and you end up with Alzheimers Disease.
