Cortisol is your long term stress hormone, it is released no matter what type stress you're under, whether it's real or imagined, if it's mental, emotional, physical, your body will respond the same way every time cortisol levels rise. Cortisol is one of the most destructive hormones on our body tissue, it tears down your muscle fibers, your bone fibers, it is destructive for your brain, which makes you forget things, and if you have high cortisol you definitely have more cravings and increased appetite for the comfort foods and you will belly fat regardless of how thin you are otherwise.
