What Is White Noise?

White noise is something that blocks out all the other noises that are preventing you from getting great sleep, so if you have something like that running water, that ticking clock, something low at a frequency of about 20 to 40, it's going to keep you up because your brain is scanning for ambient silence.

There's also those alarms and those sirens that are those much louder sounds. So white noise provides a wide frequency of sound so that your brain is going to not notice all of those other sounds, that's going to help you fall asleep and it may actually help you to stay asleep more soundly during the night.
