Talking to your prescribing professional and being honest about your condition can help them to wean you off slowly
so that you don't have to go through the pains of withdrawal. [DRAMATIC MUSIC]
The abuse of prescription drugs is rising rapidly in this country. Remember, just because something comes in an orange bottle
does not mean that it is good for you. If you are indeed addicted to prescription drugs,
it is treated no differently than addiction to alcohol or cocaine. Cognitive behavioral therapy or inpatient rehab
are two treatment options that have been shown to be very effective. 12-step meetings and the support that you
would get from a sponsor is another thing that can help. Talking to your prescribing professional and being honest about your condition
can help them to wean you off slowly so that you don't have to go through the pains of withdrawal.
If you have a true ADHD diagnosis, there are non-stimulant, non-addictive alternatives
to drugs like Adderall that are still going to treat your ADHD symptoms without setting you up for some of the addictive profile.
